I have a 1990 Georgie Boy 35' on a Ford F53 chassis which I purchased about 4 months ago. I plan on replacing the roof within the next 6 months. We plan on taking it to Texas for a wedding in July this year and doing some localized camping. We have been camping in it in Mass. at my wife's mother's house and the heater works great! I've done some reading on this board for afew weeks and decided it was a great place for info. Hope to exchange more great info with all of you, this is the second Motorhome I have owned. Pete

Hey Pete,
Welcome from one Vermonter to another. Not many of us that post on this forum but you are the 2nd to join recently. I just wanted to let you know there is going to be a Nor'Easter rally in Brattleboro, VT in May. Take a look under the Northeast section, you may want to join us. We always have lots of fun and welcome newcomers.

Hi Pete, Welcome from another northerner. If you have been using that rig earlier this year the heater must have been real good! Good luck with this rig and Welcome!

We'll start off with 3 nights in Stowe at Gold Brook CG. Then move down to Kampersville on Lake Dunmore for 6 nights, then to Half Moon State Park for 4 nights. ( July 12-25) We usually do a Vermont trip every 3rd summer or so. I like to check out other campgrounds while were there for future trips. In the past we have stayed at Gifford Woods SP, and Lake St. Catherine SP.

I have read reviews for Kampersville that have not been very good. We have stayed there maybe 4-5 other times. As long as you don't get a site near the rec-hall It's fine. Most of the full service sites are very large. They always have things going on just about every evening at the rec-hall like bingo, shuffleboard, music.....

Any others you would recommend?

Drove thru Lake Bomoseen CG. and Rivers Bend CG. which we didn't like last time.

So Brandon is near where we head. Been to the VT. Maple Mus., VT. Marble Exhibit, Wilson Castle, Otter Creek Brewing, Maplelandmark Woodcraft, Shelburne Farms, Ben & Jerry's Factory tour and a bunch of things off of Killington peak area. There is a Chinese restaurant just east of Rutland on route 4 we always go to. Panda something???

We have not done any camping in Vermont, we bought our MH in January this year and have been going to my in laws in Mass. We live across the lake (lake Memphromegog) from Prouty each campground, looks nice, and see lots of people there in the season. We are moving to Texas in mid June, was the main reason for buying the MH and will do more camping after then. Have plans of going to Disney in Fla maybe next year.

Hey Jim and Diane, we live about 5 miles from Kampersville so we have never stayed there. For us, we prefer quieter campgrounds now that are children are grown. So we like the state parks. I have heard Half Moon is beautiful but we haven't been there yet. Hopefully this summer. We also loved Emerald Lake and enjoy DAR which is on Lake Champlain. For private campgrounds we like River's Bend in New Haven, Camping on the Battenkill in Arlington, and White River Campground in Gaysville. All of these are smaller campgrounds and don't have lots of stuff for entertainment.

We also have a 1990 Class A RV. We bought it in November 08. I replaced the front coils springs and tires. In Feb 09 we went to Disney's Fort Wilderness, 1100 miles one way. It was a blast. I hope you can make it happen.

We are absolutely going next summer to Disney. The funny part is, I lived in Tampa for 2 years and never went. But we are going now! We have 4 children at home, and they won't let us back out. Hoping to get a camp site in the park, ut it may be all booked up.
