Hello from Florida. My DH and I were toying with the idea of an RV for the last month. Shifting from Class A down to Class C models. We even had the salesman show us the big guys 32' to 36'. Yes, eyes bugged out and we started slobbering! Now back to reality we have not one idea what we are doing but we are educated people on our 40's. So the venture begins as we test drove a Class C and might I say it was white knuckled attempt. This class didn't leave much to be desired until we drove the Class A. Oh boy! Our hearts fell in love with a 29' Newmar Baystar that was pre-ordered cause they didn't have that size in stock. We test drove a 27' Newmar.

Now we are trying to find someone who is willing to teach us the art of RV driving, the how too's of Rving and what the components are of my little/big rig. LOL. I don't take this lightly and know I'll get a wealth of advice soon. We plan on embarking on our first journey this summer up to Canada.

As they say practice makes perfect but not always you will see pros with dents. They look harder to drive than they are happy camping.

Welcome to our little group

...You will get lotsa advise here. Lazy Days in Florida, from what has been posted, has a great driving course. I have learned alot from online videos. Take your time when you pick your new baby up. Ask questions, take notes. And you will still be learning 2 years later. RV'ing is a great hobby and a great way of life...Enjoy

And remember to always have a sense of humor...Again Welcome..D

Welcome Chabear, you certainly came to the right place to learn about RV'n. I myself learn something everyday on iRV2. You can't...or shouldn't own an RV without iRV2. I myself don't have a Newmar, but tons of drivers are on the site to help you and share with you.

When my husband and I bought our last motorhome, I video taped the walk through (which took a whole day) demonstrating how all the different systems worked. You have no idea how helpful that was even though we had all the manuals.

Last month my DH and I took the Lazydays course, it was free, and learned so much. He was already driving motorhomes but none this big. I was very new to it and in the class I drove all through a campground and parked a 40 foot new Class A without any fear. I drove our 33' home from Tampa on the interstate with some confidence. It's a great thing to do! Call and set up a date.

To all of you who have responded........thank you. All your advice and links have sent me on a great chase. So here is what I've learned so far. Spending $$$ for DVDs was a waste, finding links to driving led me to Lazydays RV driving YouTube links and making an appointment with them. Ok, way too excited!

One thing I learned about motorhoming is never be in a hurry take your time.

Welcome and my advice to figuring out how everything works on your new RV...go camping somewhere close and with a fair amount of campsites and let it be known that you are a newbie and ask other RV'ers for help. Believe me, we all love to see other RV's and love to impart any and all knowledge and tips. Just ask and you will get lots of help...
