Hello! No trailer... yet!

Hey folks,

My family, after two separate false starts over the past six or seven yeas, appears to be getting serious about a camper. I'm a life long mountaineer, backpacker and car camper, but have never even spent a night in any kind of trailer. My wife has found memories, my boys love "tiny houses" and I'm getting older. They are more and more appealing all the time.

Having rules out Casita, we are currently looking at the Escape (probably 17b, mayb 19b) Somerset and Opus. Perhaps still in the running would be Safari Condo.

We had been hoping to use our 2016 Mazda 9 (350/3500). That's totally fine for the on road Opus, but it's just starting to push it for the Off Road, E3s, Escape 17 (19' would obviously be out), etc... As I've been sternly warned off riding the edge, or playing backwards (looking for a trailer to fit vehicle, not picking a vehicle to tow our trailer) this whole frustrating but fun decision process might turn on its head if I'm able to buy a certain Chevy Suburban.

Anyway, that's our RV life, such that it is, in a nutshell.

Ont he other hand, I'm ALSO looking to help my Mom buy a Class B/B+/C (probably Leisure or Pleasureway, see below) in the next couple of years when she retires. I started a thread asking for help with that down in the Class B forum.

Cheers!

We have gone through similar thought processes. We were going to use our Tacoma. Instead we are moving towards an A class DP. We just want to do it right like you guys...

Don’t rush with your choice.
We’ll look forward to hearing what you decide on.
Be safe (with your actual tow weight)
Best Wishes ~
