New to the forum. It was recommended by a dealer. The "hookum" from all the dealers is exhausting! We want to buy an 8 or 10 ft. tent camper. So far we have looked at Fleetwood, Viking, Forest River, and Jayco. The Jayco dealer seems to "have it all together - impressive!" He even wires our vehicle and includes a brake controller in the package pricing. Will that void our Jeep Liberty's warranty? Dealers say that 8 foot trailers don't need brakes! Is that true? So many questions - help!

Welcome Kiara, I assume you mean a pop-up? Check out the pop up forums down the page farther.

Kiara, welcome to our website and forum. We look for ward to reading of your adventures and experiences. Wiring in a brake controller should not void the warranty on your Jeep, provided it is done correctly. An 8' pop up trailer may not need a brake controller and some may not even come with electric brakes. If it has electric brakes on the trailer then I would recommend you have the controller installed. Good luck and enjoy!
