Hey!
Figured I'd register after purchasing my second motorhome.
2 years ago I bought a 25' 2000 Coachman Catalina 240WB Class C. I loved the "jump in and go" mentality of it and the room for my 3 kids. We just got back to South Carolina from a trip to Colorado in August. It did great. Unfortunately, I wrecked it 3 days after we returned home. Long story short, insurance company paid it off, I bought it back and then bought a 32' 1999 Fleetwood Southwind Storm 32Y Class A for less than I paid for the Coachman.
I got a good deal on it since it needed a bit of work. My main concern this time was structural integrity and water damage. None of the mechanical stuff bothered me nearly as much as water damage. The Coachman had suffered a good bit of delam and I didn't really know what I was looking for when I bought it. Now I do.
Work on the new Class A included replacing about 50ft of wiring that had been ripped out when a tire blew out on the highway, replacing all of the plumbing and doing a lot of cleaning. Now, the only thing that seems to be left to repair is the generator. The blow out also took out the governor controller on the set. I also need to find a matching fender skirt that doesn't cost $250.
Man, this Class A is SO much nicer than the Class C. Class C's just have too much wasted space. The cab is useless while camping. Also, I'll never own another RV without a slide-out. What a difference!
I know that I'd like to add a power inverter to run the TV for the kids while driving down the road instead of running the genset. That's all I have on my modification list for now. I'm sure I'll add more in the near future.
Anyway. Hi.
Old Moho.
New one.
