Thought I would introduce myself - even though I have already posted a question -
We just purchased a 1999 Tripple E Commander. We were actually looking for a Class C, we had one years ago when our sons were younger and would go almost all summer with the kids and motorcycles. It was a 1979 and we got our use out of it for sure! After the kids were grown, it sat and looked sad so we finally sold it.
Fast forward - we have replaced the kids with a dog - and she runs our lives now! We are fortunate to be able to travel quite a bit (me for work and the husband often tags along!) but we can't take the dog with us - which started the conversation of getting a motorhome again. We set a budget and started looking - my only requirement was a rear bed - I didn't want to climb up the ladder over the top any longer. I also wanted to outfit it well so that when it was time to take off we'd throw clothes and some food in and go!
A friend told us about some friends of his that had a class A for sale - we were both pretty adamant about not wanting one that big - but went and looked at it. It only had 23,000 miles on it and was a Ford V10 - big pluses for my husband. But it was so big.... we talked ourselves out of it and continued searching. We went to see a Class C not long after that - it was $500 less than the class A and had a soft floor, mildew smell, and lots of broken things in it - that was it - we said lets get the Class A.
The rest is history. We didn't know much about the Canadian made Tripple E, but we sure are liking what we are hearing about it. It has been sitting a bit - and we are having to replace the refridgerator. Some mice had been in (under the dash and up in the upper TV cabinet) and expired - so my husband has been cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing that area I think we are finally rid of the smell. I spent the weekend cleaning every inch from back to front and have found no damage from water or anything else - all other nooks and crannies were vermin free.
We have a while to go before retirement so this will be a vacation and long weekend getaway for us - we love the national parks and have toured many of them on our motorcycle (which we plan to take with us!) and now want to go back to some of them and spend more time. And we get to have our goofy dog with us.
I look forward to learning from all of you as we embark on this adventure!
