G'day everyone,
My wife and I are in our mid 40s, and have been weekend camping for years with a TT. Our 2 daughters used to come with us, and it's been a blast. But now our girls are on their own, so my wife and I decided to go a bit crazy :-).

Since my wife and I both work from home full time, we're like "hey, why not buy an RV, and work from the road part time". We'll still keep our home base and come back to it every couple of weeks. It wasn't a tough sell, and I'm really thankful that we both have a job that allows us to do this.

We started our journey thinking we'd get a class C. The class A MH's were just too big and we wanted a bit more flexibility. But then, as is often the case with us, we were window shopping in an RV show in Richmond, VA, with money we didn't have, and stumbled into the perfect floor plan in a Class A, and it was a game changer.

So we started doing the research. The initial contender was the Bounder 35K (that's what we saw in the show). It just had an awesome layout. But, based on research here, and other places, it seemed like Tiffin and Newmar would offer us a bit better quality. So, based on that, we went with Tiffin, and decided to purchase a 2017 Tiffin Allegro 36LA.

We love the floor plan, it's super spacious, and will allow us both to work in the rig. We went with a 2017 because we wanted to ensure that we got the new 6 speed transmission available in the F-53 chassis. We're hoping to take delivery in mid-september, and hit the road in October.

Our plan is to dolly-tow our 2016 Honda Fit, and use that to get around one we're at our destination. And we're considering purchasing a Thousand Trails membership (research pending) to enable us to do so at a reasonable price. We are so excited, I think we may collectively burst!

We're eager to meet other folks in a similar situation, and learn how you're making it happen. But our real goal is to explore the country!

We look forward to meeting you all, and talking with you either virtually, or at a campground.

Congratulations Alan. I hope the new rig treats you well. My only suggestion is to forgo the tow dolly, trade the car in for a pre 2015 Honda CR-V or Fit and tow 4 down. I did the dolly thing for about 8 years. It is not a fun thing to deal with.

When you get your rig, do your homework on it before you take possession. If you can get your hands on the owners manuals do so and read them over. Often the PDI conductor does not have a clue. Make certain ALL of the systems are functional before you give your cash up totally.
