Hi and boy do I have many Questions.... Looking at 94 Dolphin
I have no Experience with Motor homes I joined up hoping that I might get pointed in the right direction. I very familiar with driving large rigs as Fire trucks are my second vehicle usually.
My story... My son, who is 7, wants to go to Lego land... the wife wants to see some of the places I grew up in California, and I want to visit Oregon and Washington. So the Idea start looking for a rig to buy and work on through the winter and spring if we need to. Hit the West coast next summer and the summer after hit the east. I figure now is the best time to have the greatest of memories for my son.
I have found several prospects. One has really got my attention. 1994 Dolphin Diesel pusher. Cummings 12 valve with Allison tranny. It has only 39K. Yes I said 39K. The Genny has 250 hours on her. My concerns..
The oil pan appears dinged, Oil is not leaking from the seal but is leaking from the plug. owner said in cannot be fixed.. Im thinking new pan easy fix.
The owner stated the A/C system on the Engine has been converted to 134a. Said I was empty after a trip but now after no work has no problem.
hydraulic Leak some where on the engine. I think will be an easy fix.
The A/C System..... What is with the A/C units. Only one unit will run. if you turn both on it crashed the system and has to be restarted. I have no idea where to start.
Probably will need new roof very soon. There appears to be no water stains or damage. He painted something on the roof!!!
the owner wants 12k for the rig. I figure the Engine and Trany are worth 10k.
A couple of other vehicle Ive been eying are an 02 and an 05 gasers around 20k they wont touch gas mileage of this dolphin.
Anyone with opinions I an greatly seeking as well and answers to the AC issue

Do yourself a big favor and take someone with you who has experience with motor homes. Older motor homes can be a real $ money pit.
That one 'could' be worth it and then again,it could cost you way more than it's worth. A friend of mine just bought a 93 Holiday Rambler that was garaged for most of its life for $3000. Feel free to PM me with your phone # and I'll be glad to tell you what to look for.
A friend of mine sold his 93 Newmar last year for $17,000 but it was in MINT condition and had always been garaged.
