Smile Hi from Mountains of Western North Carolina

New to iRV2 and I've found a lot of info already! For about 5 years we owned a Coachmen Class C which we used mainly for weekends and 2 NASCAR races at Bristol, TN. We purchased a 2010 Winnie Vista 25p two years ago and really love it. For two people it has more than enough room and I cannot believe how easy it is to drive, park etc.

We live up a 1 lane gravel road with many switchbacks. In the winter, if we get 3" of snow we're stuck until it thaws. Even with 4x4, the road is too steep with 100' drop offs! We are set with whole house gen, propane, electric and two fire places. Plus our water is gravity, spring fed. So power outages are not a problem.

Last year we decided to bale out and, after visiting the kids for Christmas up in Illinois, toured the SW; Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Louisiana. We were gone from January to early March and I could not believe how comfortable it was to live in an RV for such a length of time. We rented a car in some places as I prefer not to tow.

Anyway, HI, and hope I can contribute and of course, get good advice on the forums.

Thanks! The last place we camped in March was on the Texas side of the Gulf. We're going to stay the full two months. Two hundred feet from the beach and has an hourly trolley to town.

Welcome to the forum. All I can say is, "some people have all the luck". You get to travel around this great country of ours and then get to come home to western N.C. mountains. Wow, what a blessing. If you haven't already guessed, I LOVE N.C. MOUNTAINS!!!! Sometimes, if the weather forcast is snow, Cheryl and I will pack up and head to Hendersonville area with the wrangler just to play in the snow. I envy you guys. Be blessed and safe travels.

Welcome Paul, we lived outside of Murphy NC for 5 years! No about switchbacks having lived at 2800 ft elevation on what is called in the mountains as a ridge! No way down when the ice and snow form. But usually it is gone soon. Traded it all in on a class A and a beachside home in the panhandle of Fl. Like the road way better than sitting at home!
