Well, Our trip has gone very well: Spent 2 nights at Muncho Lake with a perfect campsite on the edge of this beautiful lake, then one night at Liard River Hot Springs campground in one of the nicest campgrounds one can imagine in a great forest. Tonight we're at the Little Nugget campground just beyond Watson Lake. Did the sign forest which is stunning. Tomorrow we're on to Whitehorse for 3-4 nights.

We are leaving Whitehorse today and will try to make Tok tonight. Hint: If you are going stop by the Whitehorse Walmart, get there early! When we pulled in about 5PM looked like an RV rally! See you in AK!

There is very limited room for parking of RV's at the site. Truck campers and small class C's can park, and there may be room for one or two big rigs. I believe the parking area is closed after hours. Definately worth the time to stop for a couple of days, you can safely watch bears from close up. Of course that is if they cooperate? . I think your best bet is to stay in one of the CG's in either Stewart BC or in Hyder itself. Safe Travels, Chuck

Atlin BC is really a beautiful place. The road down from Whitehorse is gravel and takes 2.5 to 3 Hrs from Jake's Corner. Weather great today. We've had rain showers most afternoons since leaving Dawson Creek.

Well, the roade freom Whitehorse to Tok was by far the worst so far! A short stretch of new construction not too far from the border was crawling speen for 10 minutes. There was about 5 miles of gravel that was the dusty part. The toad was covered with 1/8" of dust. Lots of ups and downs so SLOW DOWN! The drive from Whitehorse to Tok took us about 11 hours for the 300+ miles. Crossing the border was a breeze, then Tok is about 100 miles. Tok has to be the RV and truck washing capital of the world! Pull in and buy some fuel (3.89 for gal of diesel) and take advantage of all of the free pressure washing stations!
Headed to Fairbanks tonight. Weather is 40ish and rainy today. Will try to post photos soon!

Time is flying by on this wonderful saga. Atlin lake is breathtaking and contains an island (Teressa Island) on which is the largest and tallest Mountain on a fresh water lake in the world.Tatchun creek Provincial Campground is a beautiful spot with widely spaced sites in the midst of a lovely forest. We're in Dawson City today at the Bonanza Gold park......nice folks here.

mdwy: G'morning. Have ya taken a drive to the top of the "Dome" yet? (Fabulous vistas overlooking Dawson, rolling tundra up to mtns. up North, and Yukon below). Aint that country something!!!

Are ya headed over Top of the World Highway?? Took our 40 ft. MH towing over to Chicken and on to Tok a few year ago, and it was a great trip.

Enjoy your trip.

Steve & Lynette

Hi all, we're in Valdez now and thru July 4 then Seward 7 July thru 15 July. In Valdez at adult Bear Paw. In Valdez been cloudy with occasional breaks. Good food at Mike's Palace. While we were in Dawson City, took car to Arctic Circle via Dempster Highway, and played golf at midnight at Top of The World golf course, then stayed at nice campground at Tolsano and a great campground at Blueberry Lake just before Valdez.

mdwy,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip to Alaska as we are enjoying ours too.
Right now we are in Sterling which is just North of Soldotna at Alaska Canoe and RV park which is nice and the price is right. We toured the Kenai today and saw the Russian church there as well as the beach. Go to "the moose is loose" Soldotna as there pastries are great.Tomorrow we are heading to Fred Meyers lot for 3 nights of free camping and then onto Homer and Homer Spit. Haven't done any fishing yet but hope to do some in the next few days. From there it will be to Seward and Valdez, etc.

We enjoyed Dawson City and the Dome and had a good time there however the road in Canada was rough but paved and when we crossed the border into the US the road was full of potholes and washboard and muddy . I still haven't gotten it all off and I washed the rig three times. In fact a Newmar Dutch Star ran off the road there and I couldn't go over 10 mph at times. It was bad news and I wouldn't recommend that road to anyone. The scenery so far in Alaska has been great and at times spectacular. We weren't too impressed with Fairbanks or Anchorage but I guess it was because of too many people and too much traffic.

Well enjoy your trip and maybe we willmeet up with you somewhere, just look for my RV and look for the ITV2 stickers on rear mud flap.

Tom et al, we hope to see you too; fabulous time in Valdez. Nice fireworks tonight, twilight but clouds allowed us to see colors and smoke trails. Tomorrow in Ft Richardson...?dry camping, then on to Seward. Let me know how Fred Myers worked...Raining now in Valdez (about midnight) still pretty light outside. Overall, I agree with spectacular scenery.....but much more traffic than I expected....The idea that one travels miles and miles without seeing anyone seems a myth! Lots of traffic so far!
