my dw and I feel the best way to go from boston fla is avoid 95 till south Carolina we take I90 to I84 to I81 to I77 to I26 to I95 going south the only toll is the mass pike it avoids ny city Baltimore and Washington Richmond it is a little further and some mountains. it was suggested buy AAA when I inquired about missing DC.

Yup, what hometool said. Much less aggravation and a much nicer ride.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

Rte 95 will get you into lots of traffic around the larger cities. As already stated other routes may be slightly longer, but you will make better time.

Yep, hometool is right on. We're going south right now. We go that way in reverse everytime we head to Maine.

Must be a long slow ride in reverse.

I-95 is ok except for NYC. I use the Tappan Zee bridge and the Garden State parkway to bypass NYC to the NJ Turnpike, then take the turnpike south to Wilmington DE. Ensure that you have gas as there are areas along the Garden State that you won't want to stop. The bridge toll over the Delaware will be your highest toll at $25 or so, depending on number of axles. An EZpass is highly recommended...we picked one up on the NJ turnpike at a service plaza. I 95 is totally ok south of there with one exception. Make sure you transit the Washington DC area at non-peak hours or prepare for misery. I've made the trip from Boston to FL and back many times, and the only regret I had was taking the RV across the George Washington Bridge through the Bronx on the way to Boston...BIG mistake. (The toll was $70 and the roads were awful!)

Once you get to SC the "Larger Cities" is Savannah and so long as you avoid the rush hours,, No tribble. none at all

(Question: Why do they call it a "Rush Hour" when you would make better time on foot and I have made better time (not on a freeway) on a Bicycle?)

IF you need a break long about MM 49 in GA on I-95 (The exit for the Darien Outlet Mall) I'm only 3 miles off the freeway,, I think he charges 35/night,,, i'm paying monthly however. nice little park, Thursday Evenings can be fun if you go to the affiliated church (Bring a dish to pass, enjoy the singing, food, friends and very little scripture)

Hi need help

I also recommend the route that hometool suggested. If you don't want to do those few mountains in western Virginia, get off I-81 at Winchester VA and take US50 and US17 to get onto I-95 at Fredericksburg. Use I-295 around Richmond, and your only annoyance from there to FL will be all the damn Pedro signs!

Enjoy the trip! We'll be heading south ourselves in mid -November, and that's the route we 'll take.
