Hello, my name is Frank Walsh and I'm new to this forum. I own a Jayflight Swift SLX 184 BH and I'm trying to figure out how to hook up my battery to the trailer. I have two wires bundled together (orange with black stripe and a green wire connected to a ring which connects to the battery post) and a single large white wire, again connected to a ring which connects to a battery post. Which is the negative (or positive, or both) connection?

Usually, (NO guarantee), in RV applications white will be negative (aka: ground).
To check that use a meter to see if there is continuity from the ring on the white wire, (while it is NOT connected to the battery), to a cleaned point anywhere on the frame.

Hi Frank! Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join us!

I would recommend calling Jayco tech support before attempting to hook up anything! You could do some real damage if you get it wrong!

I suggest that you post specific questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area. In this case I would select "Owner's forums" from the bar at the top, then select "Jayco".

I think they way I would determine this is to first plug into shore power so that your convertor/charger is putting out 13 or so volts DC and measure this where the battery cables are at the battery. The red wire on the voltmeter will be positive. The battery will be marked with + and - and then just match the + you measured on the battery cable to the + on the battery.

You should have a circuit breaker on the frame near that should trip if you do connect it backwards, but don't count on it working correctly. Friends of ours connected their batteries backwards and didn't find out until 1/2 day later at the cg and the circuit breaker kept clicking on and off and the batteries were off-gassing and making quite a smell. Fried the board in their furnace.

If you don't have a meter (which will make life a lot easier) try to follow the white wire. It probably doesn't go far until it is bolted to the frame or hitch somewhere. That's negative. (-)
