Howdy from Corpus Christi TX! I just thought I would introduce myself. DH is active duty Navy and with seven years to go we figured we would go at this RV business full time and really live out the last years of his time in before we have to "settle down" and retire! We are just gathering information at this point as we are looking to buy in October of 08 and want to make a truly informed decision. I hope to be able to put all this great wealth of information to good use. Thanks in advance for all the advice and tips. Have a great day everyone!!

jacobs family, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to helping where we can. Have you done any RVing yet? If not you may want to rent one to see if you like it. Then you will want to study as to whgat the different types have to offer for you. Once you know what you will need then you can study on the brand and accessories. Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

Thanks again for the comments and warm welcome. No we have not done any RVing, but we do a ton of camping and been stationed in some pretty tight quarters. In Rhode Island DH, DD, our great dane, our two cats and I were in 700 sq ft with all of our stuff from our 4 bedroom 1600 sq ft house! We figure if we can make it there we can make it any where (to quote ole Frank!). Doing a lot of research at the moment, the poor printer is running overtime with all the info I am printing out. I don't know if we are going baou tthis the right way but we started with floorplans. We narrowed our search to the top 15 floorplans that have the things we decided we HAVE to have. From there I am gleaning information about each company, the specs and technical stuff, warranty, customer service and service. Lots of information to sift through. Glad we gave ourselves a year period before we can buy. Thanks for the kudos to DH for being in the service, it is appreciated! Take care everyone. I think I will look around the message boards for awhile and see what I can see! Take Care

Jacobs Family...
I do apologize for not giving you my proper welcome in a timely manner...but ...
Welcome Jacobs family to IRV2!! You honestly will not find a better group of people to ask all sorts of things...from electrical questions to what they consider the most important item in the RV (auto level? satellite? internet?)The people here are very knowledgeable and the most friendly RV forum group out there!

I am glad you decided to join us now...it may help you find that perfect rig for you the first time out - instead of a second time out...There will be things people are able to point out to you now... like "are there 2 bath towel racks - one for him & one for you?" (Our answer is "Yes" )
Anyway... Congrats on DH's impending retirement next year ...and good luck finding that perfect rig!

PS... I am still not sure about my shot glass collection...I may need to have a special display case built!
