Howdy from Texas!!
Hi Ya'All: I name is Ron, I reside in Canton Texas at present, I am 71 yrs old, retired, and getting ready to sell out here and head out in my new to me purchase. I bought a 1991 Monaco, Signature 40 ft. that I haven't even seen yet. I have to pick it up in Nashville, Tenn. With a grand total miles of 37,340 on the odometer.
I spent 18 years galavanting around the countyr in a eithteen wheeler, as a truck driver before leaving my love of a job due to a naughty teen ager that required my attention. So next, I twisted wrenches for 20 years before retiring.
I also have enjoyed ham radio since 1961 and my call is wb6epp, which I hope other hams will chime in here and tell me which radio they have and if they are using the repeaters across the country, as I sold all gear 3 years ago in antisipation of getting out of here. Then, wife decided to die so I haven't got to move yet, but still have the plans of doing so. Hope to meet some of you, and if you came to First Monday trade days here in Canton, give me a buzz.

Mill Creek is fairly new and really clean park. Lots of parking in and around Canton for RV's. Including the Trade Days Grounds. My feet get tired about 2 hours into looking around. A friend of mine a couple years back took all 3 days to see the whole trade days area's, as they advertise 200 acers of swapmeet once a month.

Howdy Ron! ...and welcome to the forum. We just bought a home in Whitehouse about an hour SE of you ...we've been fulltiming since 2005, and will continue to travel quite a bit.
I finally got around to getting my HAM ticket in 2006. I run a 2 meter in the toad, and a 2/440 in the MH ...also have a 2/440 handi-talky. I installed a Larsen 2m/440 on-the-glass KG-2/70-CX-PL antenna on the motorhome, realizing only as I was doing it that it was double-pane glass. But it tuned with an SWR meter, and works great!
I normally switch to 146.52 while actually on the road. When parked I use local repeaters wherever we are, getting freqs & settings from a pocket repeater directory I got from ARRL, or from google searches on the internet. My biggest challenge has been learning/remembering to set the access tones for a local repeater when we move to a new area. I've checked in on local nets in a number of locations, and always have the radio on during stormy weather to hear what the storm watchers are reporting.
Enjoy the adventure!

Hi Paul: Glad to hear the tip on Ham Radio. I know it is a handy tool to have, and at times better than a cell phone, which I again don't have at this time. I hope to head out to pick up my MH soon. But the doctors have me scheduled next week. They need extra Santa money Ya know. Look forward to a eyeball sme day.
