I too would suggest at renting an RV even at $900 a week for a week or two, as that will still be WAY under the cost of ownership of owning an RV for a year that you only get to use for a couple of weeks a year while your wife is working full time.
While also not a full timer, I bought my first class A motorhome in 2016, I am semi-retired, my wife works full time with a local government job and gets ample vacation time per year (over 30 days per year). In my first year of ownership I spent right at 60 nights in the coach. If I were to average out all the cost of ownership expenses, like insurance, maintenance (oil changes, batteries, ...), updates (TPMS, GPS, wifi, shocks, sunscreen ...), not counting actual campground fees, travel costs, fuel, etc. I would be looking at an amount of over $100 per night spent in the coach. Sure I could have probably got away with spending half this amount and skipping many of the upgrades, but that is still on the order of $50 per day of use in cost of ownership, not counting the cost of the RV which will always be a depreciating asset.
