Talking I'm Back

Well, after many years away (I had a 36' Coachmen in the early '90's), I decided to return to the "lifestyle" upon retirement. I've upped the ante a bit, purchasing a 2016 Itasca Solei 38R pusher. We ordered it to our liking, not the dealers, so we won't be on the road until mid-June. The wife and I couldn't be more excited.

As a businessman who covered the entire US and Canada, I've been to every city you can imagine and I got to see the airport, the rental car desk, the Marriott and a bunch of freeways. Now it's time to really visit America while spending all of that inheritance the kids think they're getting ;-) The first trip will be down Route 66 in honor of one of last great American non-freeways.

Anyway, we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming journeys ... maybe we'll run into you along the way!

Welcome to the forum...and welcome back to the RV lifestyle. I hope that you have many happy miles ahead of you in your soon (but not soon enough!) Soleil.

Our coach is supposed to be ready for us Mid-June'ish as well. Like you, our plan was to drive Route 66 on its maiden voyage. Leaving the factory I will merge onto the road in Joilette, IL (south of Chicago). Can imagine what it would be like to actually take a coach to the Starting Point in the city! We will continue on (where every practical and safe) to our home in Southern California.

I started a thread on this site a while back about this journey. Below I attempted to provide you with a hyperlink to that thread. I apologize in advance if it didn't work. I never tried doing this on this site. If it didn't...just do a search on the site for HavingABlast.

Not sure if you are heading West to East or East to West on old Route 66. But if you see an old guy driving a Newmar Ventana with the big smile on his face...give me a wave.

The links to your Route66 post worked great and provided a lot of great information. Have a great ride and I'll keep an eye on your progress in case we wind up in the same area at the same time!
