Just a quick Hi!

to everyone.

My wife and I are the new(ish) owners of a (less) new (to us) 24' 1975 Dodge/Monaco Class C motorhome. My wife named her "Nessie" (my primary extraction is Scot - and neither of us has ever had a vehicle that hasn't had a name...) and we've been calling her "Home" for the last few months, and for the next couple of weeks (until our paperwork clears through HUD/VASH and Housing Authority.)

Then, we'll have a more permanent place, and room to park Nessie, and I can start work on the refit!

Fortunately, I've been a mechanic (mostly amateur, sometimes professional, and working on damned near everything) and oftimes handyman for the last 36 years, so I can do most of the work that wants doing. I'm looking forward to the project - one thing I always need is a project!

And, I'm looking forward to being able to travel properly. Travelling by train gets expensive (it's difficult to sleep upright anymore, and sleeper rooms are SPENDY!) and, while I do enjoy flying, I have come to severely dislike airports (and the K-band RADAR in use there gives me headaches. The magnetometers make me feel like someone's whacked me in the head with a sledgehammer. Long story.)

So, I drive. I live in California, and I've got family in Indiana and Georgia - so I've got good excuses to get out and drive. Having an RV will make it easier to get out and drive properly (gotta take measurements and draw prints for drawbar brackets to flat tow our car behind, tho (no-one makes brackets for a Suzuki Verona...)

Anyhow, I'll try to check in at fairly regular intervals, and I've got plenty of desire to help - feel free to ask! Mechanic, practical engineer (I was going to school for it, when I got clobbered,) some machinist experience, electrician experience, plumber experience - Hell, probably a dozen or so useful trades! If I've got an answer, I'm quite willing to share (my solutions may be unorthodox, but they usually do work...)
