Just another new guy

Hi everyone. Regards to all moderaters and members.

Been lurking on this site for several months, decided it was time to bite the bullet and sign up. I guess I'm what you would call a newbee wannabe - I don't have an RV yet but looking to acquire one soon. I'm retired, my wife will be in a few short months and we're both thinking we'd like to get into rving, most likely for a few months each year. We haven't decided yet exactly what we want rv-wise but it's coming down to a choice between a class A with toad or a fifth wheel rig. Whatever it ends up being we'll be looking for something fairly recent but used to manage the initial buy-in somewhat.

Like I mentioned, I've been following/searching numerous threads on this site as well as several others for quite some time just trying to educate myself on the many, many issues surrounding rvs and the lifestyle. I've also got my hands on a number of good books on various related subjects: full timing, boondocking, etc. So I'm probably just getting to the point where I'm edumacated enough to be dangerous. Be that as it may, for what it's worth although there are many great resources out there on that there internets irv2 has to be one of if not the best.

Looking forward to your collective feedback in the days to come.

Welcome! Joining in on the conversations before you buy might help avoid issues and pitfalls when you are ready to purchase.

Welcome to site, an new life style. Big difference between 5er and Class A. all depends on amt of miles u plan on traveling, Some like idea of un-hooking, an driving around in there truck, others jus lilke the comfort of being able to park somewhere, eat, shower, watch tv. an then there is the gas/diesel debate. my opinion is if u get a class a diesel, get a warranty, as repairs do get little $$. but you can go longer without them. i have a DP. love it. we take it out on weekends, short camping trips,

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Good luck in your shopping experience and hope you find the rv that will work best for you. As mentioned visit a few of the sites and get in on a conversation. There's a whole lot of info here to probably help you make a decision. Hope to see you down the road.

Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join the bunch here!

This is without a doubt the best RV site on the web! You'll find lots of nice, friendly folks eager to share their knowledge and experience, and great Moderators who are always fair and respectful! I don't think you'll find that combination anywhere else! Enjoy!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Thank you all for your welcoming responses.

As it happens I am leaning toward a DP or possibly a FRED but since (in the case of a DP anyway) these represent the pinnacle in terms of cost, I may have to settle for something less to start with. The thing is my wife and I are both somewhat circumspect and analytical - we tend to approach new things incrementally. We both find the idea of rving very appealing but we're reluctant to go all-in until we're sure we enjoy it as much as you all do.

Anyway, as you might guess, we have many, many questions. We'll try to search for threads on a subject before thoughtlessly re-re-reposting a 'new' thread, but hopefully long timers won't be too annoyed if they hear some of the same questions over again.
