Never camped, never had a camper, never owned an RV. Retiring in May and wanted to do a little travel so my wife and I bought a 2004 Fleetwood Bounder. Never have believed in starting small. Very happy with it, looks and drives like new, just under 17,000 miles on it. We bought it in North Carolina. We live in Illinois. Originaly from Pa. and are planning on moving to Florida or Pa once retired (can't make up our minds). Set up an appointment at a local Rv SHOP and had them change all fluids and filters before driving home. Also had them reseal the roof just to be safe since it is an older unit. RV shop also found bad wipers and replaced. It has 300 hp diesel and seemed to have suficient hp when we drove it the 700 miles home, took about 12 hours and avg around 9 mpg. Had no issues accept when we got home tried to start the 7.5 KW Generator but the house batteries were dead so I assume the charge circuit for the house batteries from the generator is not functioning. The charge meter on the dash showed good but that may have been the diesel batteries charging. I guess I wIll need to find a schematic.

Hello dadams, welcome to the forum and congratulations on you new Bounder. Somewhere in the electrical bay you'l probablyl find a charge solenoid that is bad. That allows the alternator to charge of the house batteries after topping off the chassis batteries while your running down the road. You probably have a charger on your coach that will charge the house batteries once you have plugged into shore power.

Thanks for the tip. I assume by electrical bay that is the same location as the battery area or is there a area that has all of the electrical components distributed from one point? Thanks for your reply.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Bounder. After living here in PA, I would think you would pick Florida...
