Just Retired

Hi, my husband and I have just retired this year and bought our first RV, a 2003 Tiffin Allegro. We are excited about traveling and meeting new people. We may ask questions from time to time, please excuse us if they sound dumb...we are still learning!! I just found out it takes up to 24 hours for the Frig to get cold...LOL.,

Hi Diane,

Welcome to the Forum to you and your husband! Everyone of us started out right where you are so we won't think your questions are dumb.

Make sure to get a water pressure regulator valve as well as an in line water filter. Both can be bought at Walmart for under $30. The pressure valve because CG's (Camp grounds) often have high pressure and you don't want to blow your plumbing on your Allegro. Also the water isn't always the cleanest.

When you park your rig and don't plan on using it soon drain the hot water tank. Bacteria in water tends to make it smell real foul, real foul. We found out the hard way. We were just learning and oh boy was that nasty.

These things are a blast. We have owned ours only about 16 months so still learning ourselves.

Make sure you put in your rig info where you sign in because if you have the engine info and chassis info, make model of rig it helps people to answer questions when you have an issue. The people here are great at helping, they just need some basic info to help.

Have fun, retirement and a rig. Wow! Lynne

Welcome - the DW and I also have a Tiffin Allegro and we retired 5 years ago. We don't full time - just travel when the season/weather is perfect :>)
Fill a couple 1/2 gal juice bottles with water and freeze them - use them to cool down the frig much faster (and keep it cool). There are little fans for inside the fridg that circulate the cool air and make it more efficient (example: Dometic Refrig Fan w/ON-OFF switch INCREASES cooling STANDARD model | eBay)

Welcome to the RV world and the forum. We all started at the exact same place, and maybe we can help you avoid some of the mistakes we made.

Feel free to ask anything you care to, and we'll try to help.

Welcome! You guys are going to hate retirement. No sick days, no vacation days no personal days....just fun, fun, fun. Now if I could only get my honey do list accomplished, but there never seems to be enough time.

Currently traveling in Vermont on week 9 of 12 Beautiful!
