Just retired hitting the road!

My wife and I just retired last month. We are packing for our first extended trip, any good advice will be appreciated.

Expect that things will not always go as planned and take it as just part of the RV experience. Remember that a wrong turn down a dead end with a toad is not a disaster. It's a story to tell your friends when sitting around a camp fire and laugh about.
Bring wine because as every one know, wine not whine makes everything better.

Set out all the clothes you think you'll need. Divide the pile by two and leave half behind. At the end of the first year stack up all the clothes you never used and run them over to Goodwill. Its amazing just how small of a wardrobe you actually need.

Buy an Emergency Roadside Service subscription: Good Sam, Coachnet or whatever.

Remember you are retired. It is no longer a race. Stop and smell the flowers.

Take your time and enjoy. Stuff will happen, just deal with it as it comes along. It's not an emergency unless someone needs to go to the hospital.

Take one day at a time and enjoy the adventure. We departed Illinois for Lafayette, LA last Saturday. Stuck in Tunica MS due to ice. Who cares, we don't.

Take every pair of underwear and every T shirt you own. Same goes for socks. You can wear the same pair of jeans for many days and shirts too if the stuff underneath is clean.

The goal is to minimize trips to the miserable, expensive, nasty laundromat in the campground or elsewhere.

Take a million quarters with you. Washers are $2.50 and up now and the dryers take forever to dry at $0.25 per 10 minutes. And the guy before you put incredibly nasty stuff in them.

If you are careful you can go a month without laundromats without taking an inordinate amount of stuff.

If you're a clean towel every shower person, then you're in trouble.
