Just starting and need help.
My second wife finally retired.
She and her deceased husband had two camp vehicles.
1. A 1982 Beaver 28 foot Motorhome. It is parked under cover on a twenty acre forested property. They used it several times a year for holidays. After his death, we met and got married. Until the end of June, we also used it for holidays. She retired at the end of June. I can start it by pouring gasoline into the carb but keeping it running is another matter.
2. A 2011 Apache Mac Popup. It had been used three times in the last three years, never before.
I camped a lot when I was a kid. We had a tent. My first wife and I had a tent. My son and I used it some when he was young. He is now in his 40's.
She retired June 21. We immediately went to the motorhome for a week. From there we took the popup on a three day trip to Glacier NP. On the way home she announced that we needed a fifth wheel. So we stopped and purchased a 2013 Forest River 32RL Wildcat Sterling. I had never towed much and nothing longer than a ten foot snowmobile trailer.
The Beaver and the fifth wheel are why I am here.
I would like to have the Beaver Operational, even if we never take it on the road again.
I retired ten years ago from teaching. I taught 33 years having taught every level from Kindergarten to adult education. Kindergarten was a very brief stint at teaching computer use. Adult Ed was computer use, first aide and the use of technology in the classroom. My main teaching experience was split between science and technology and between high school and middle school.
My wife retired from the Boeing Aircraft company after about nineteen years working cutting and coding wires for their airliners.
I will be posting in the antique section to get advice on the Beaver, its GM 454 ci V8 engine and the propane generator that has not run since 2004.
I mentioned that I had not towed much. My second experience was a bad one as I did not line up properly and clipped the gate going into our property. I damaged the lower metal panels on the passenger side and bent the steps. We are scheduled to go and start a house sitting gig in Arizona soon so visiting a body shop is not in the picture. Any advice fixing it myself would be appreciated.
