Hi all, thanks for being here! My wife and I are about to purchase a used Motorhome that we can travel and live in for a month or two, preferably something 26' or less due to city restrictions. Nonetheless, I'm about to look at a 1995 Georgie Boy Pursuit 26' with 88,000. Now the price is right cheap under $6000 which is all we have to spend right now. My knowledge of these are limited, however I am a decent mechanic/ craftsman all my life and have the tools to fix or remodel most anything. Just basically want to know what gremlins these vehicles suffered from, and or suggestions for maybe taking another route altogether. Thanks, Dave

We bought a used MH two years ago for a decent price and the items I had to address were, new tires, suspension repair, ignition replacement. Total cost has been about $5000 for those items. We knew the tires would need replaced at $2500 but other items were surprises.
Overall, we love our MH and have accepted some things will need replaced.
A good mechanical check by a qualified technician is always a good idea and well worth the expense.
You might do a search on IRV2 or Google of the rig in question and find if there are a lot of failures listed by other owners.
MH ownership can get expensive so be prepared to spend some cash at some point.

For the price you are suggesting the MH would have to be in really poor shape to not be a buy. If the engine and drive train are in reasonable shape, and you can fix or repair any defects and the interior you are golden.

Tire age will be the first thing to look at.

It's really hard to find a good dependable used motorhome I your price range... Be very very careful.. Good luck and welcome.

Things wear out for two reasons.
Plain old age( like engine seals and gaskets), and from use (high mileage).

The realistic view is that the coach is 20 years old. Even if it only had 100 miles, it might have oil and vacuum leaks.

None of us can tell you if if is a good deal.
It depends on how picky you are, how handy you are, and do you have some extra money for repairs.
The bad thing about an RV is that it not only has automotive type problems, but dragging a house over 88k miles on rough roads also brings out problems.

For tires, the norm js to replace after about 7 or 8 years, regardless of tread depth (this is strictly aging). Learn how to read a date code to check the tires.
Will they rent it to you for a week with option to buy?
