Thumbs up Lots to learn

My husband and I travel for his work and are on our first job with the fifth wheel. Our thoughts were that it would be a better use of our money rather than throwing it away on hotels. So far it has been great....there have been lots of things to learn and so far most of them we have learned at about midnight in the bitter Kansas cold So I am looking for to gleaning knowledge and having the help of some experienced pros when we run into some of these "opportunities for learning"

Welcome brenna01,
The "School of Hard Knocks" has a really tough taskmaster at the helm. He is personal friends with Murphy and his set of laws with Grant's extensions. Sounds like you have talked Murphy youself. Whatever can go wrong will go wrong. Grant's extensons: at the worst possible time, in the worst possible place, in front of the greatest number of people. Fortunately, you now have some the greatest experts (they've already been to the school) to assist you so hopefully you can avoid some of the first hand lessons. And they're all willing to help - for free!!

WELCOME Brenna01!!

You've come to the right place! Just to show you that you will not be alone, in terms of what can go wrong or 'blonde' moments I will share this with you.

The fall of 2009 I learned the valuable lesson of having a check list when winterizing my TT. In the middle of it, I was interrupted and mis-remembered (new word) where I was in the process.

My first trip, in the Spring of 2010, I was at my campsite and filled my water tank. When I turned on my water pump a friend yelled from outside the rig, "is there supposed to be water pouring out of this?" I run outside and water is POURING out from under the TT. So, here I am at a dry camping spot with no water. Luckily I usually bring 5 gallons of drinking water and my other friend offered me her shower in her rig.

Get my TT to the repair shop and he found the problem in two seconds. My hot water tank looked like an Alien had burst its way out of it!!

So guess where I was when I was interrupted in my winterization process? Yep, the hot water tank. I thought I had emptied it and I had not. We had a full week of low 20's and it likely burst the first night or two.

Expensive learning lesson and now I use a check list!

When I first posted this, everyone here was supportive and shared their own 'oops' moments. Makes you feel TONS better when you know you are not the only one!
