Talking Michigan rambler.

Started my camping in the 1960's with a 3 room tent took it's last trip to Canada in mid July 1970. 3 days of steady rain kept use inside then on the 4 th day it started dripping inside two of the rooms. Ok time to bite the bullet and pack up and get out of dodge. What had taken 3 boat trips to get back to the remote Canadian island we got out in one trip. Of course I circled the boat near the launch several times slowing down so the wash didn't come over the transom.

Got home and set the tent up to dry along with every thing else that got wet. Decided to take one more trip to Canada later and the tent still was not dry enough in my option so I borrowed one from friends and went up again.
When I got home I returned the friends tent and donated mine to them too.

Early 1971 I bought a Wolverine 11' slide in PU camper. We camped even more many a 2 week trip to Canada during my up to 6 week lay offs and 3 weeks vacation time I earned. Went thru 3 pu's a 71 ford 3/4 ton, 75 ford 1 ton camper special a short lived truck full of problems, and a 1979 GMC 1 ton. That later was a great truck but did require a isolator and dual battery set up as th4e camper over night could drain the wimpy set up down to the point the truck would not start.

1980 the slide in was replaced with a used 35 foot Yellow stone 5th wheel. Glad I kept the slide in as the 5th wheel was great and all but just could not get to remote Canadian lakes as easy so only used it a few time each year then sold it. Went back to my slide in till I got married in 1985. I had lost my cushy job in 1982 so didn't have time to camp and fish drove semi with a refer coast to coast till I got a call to work a steady at home job. So I was just catching up on things then married so was catching up even more. Didn't do much camping and fishing after that.
I bought a small tent, later on, Would leave the kids with grandma and grandpa and wife and I would take the tent and motor cycle and tour Michigan and places in Canada plus one trip to Maine.
Then the motor cycle got traded off for a Jeep CJ and the tent got a mate and the kids stayed in it and wife and I in the other.
Today the kids are gone their own way and grand kids some time come and camp in the back yard with grandpa since they live many states away.
Even though we bought property on Big Bay DeNoc in Michigan's UP and built a cabin.
I am wanting to get back to the slide in camper of oldand looking for a kit to build one.

Welcome to the Forum! Love seeing your pictures! Many here started with the tents and same stories of waking up wet. Move on to another RV and keep moving up.

Good Luck with finding your next one. Another MIgander
