Moving up?

Hello, we are new to the sight but have been part time RVer's for several years. We are thinking of moving up from our Montana fifth wheel to a Class A motorhome. Not sure if we should get a gas or diesel..Any comments would be appreciated..

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time on the site and the many new friends you'll make here. Your question can be a tough one to answer and I'm sure you'll get many points of view. For us we opted for the gas chassis as we don't travel that many miles per year. When we're sitting still we have all the ammentities that the DP's have so to me what's the difference. So far it's worked for us but as I've mentioned I'm sure you'll get alot of different views. One thing for sure is to find one that has the floorplan that works best for you. Good luck on your choice. I'm not sure why you think moving to a MH is a move up other than in perhaps price. I've seen many wonderful 5th wheels and IF I wanted a truck (or already had one), and IF if felt comfortable in backing one up, I think I'd opt for the fifth wheel.

Of course is all depends on how you use it, and what you want so again good luck.

That's a personal decision AFAC. What are your finances, new or used, short or long distance travel every day or twice a year, personal preference etc.
We bought a diesel as we were going to travel the US whe we retired. So far retirment has eluded us due to my step daughter dying and leaving us with two grandkids to raise.

we had a 5er to start with and thought that was the way to go,but then things changed our minds, when your on the road and your hungry or have to use the bathroom and it's 90 degrees outside and a 110 in the 5er it's not convenient,plus manuvering them in crowded parks is a challenge and having to get out in the rain to crank the stabilizers down.So we deceided to get a class A gas and love it.People can go to the bathroom while your going down the road or make a sandwich or get you a drink and if it's raining when you get to a park you just push a button and level it with the a/c on and wait for it to stop so you can hook up the water and electric.We deceided to get a gasser because gas is cheaper and easier to find than diesel and it's less expensive to maintain. To start, will this be a "weekend warrior", or on the road for months at a time? Didn't feel I could justify the DP when our only RV use was occasional weekends and a couple weeks of vacation per year, but now that we're litterally living in it I wanted the DP for the long term durability, higher cargo carrying capacity and with the power to take us anywhere.
