Just wanted to introduce myself. I just ordered a new 2008 Dutchstar and should take delivery around Dec. 15. I appreciate all the help I received in adding items. We rented a Fleewood in Florida, and caught the bug. Jetsmania (Paul) is my good friend and finally convinced me to purchase and then he, Chuck, and forum helped us to finally get what we wanted.

We Ordered from Tom Schaffer's, and can't wait to have some fun with our 4 kids (12, 10, 6, & 4). We will have a ton of questions. My wife and I are curious about where to get the best insurance coverage, and if we should buy the dealer Diamond extended warrenty plan--seems to have alot of exclusions, but we are new to RVing and wonder if it would be worth buying.

Also any good books on RVing that anyone would recommend we read before taking delivery (so we are prepared).

Paul posted that I was going to buy a Dutchstar, and the response really helped us. So Thank you.

Welcome SuperB to the Newmar forum and irv2.
Congrats on your new to be DSDP.
Do not know to much about extended warranty plan you will make more money in bank than in the dealers hands. There are extend plans that you can pickup later that have good coverage but I never had on TT's or 6 MH's.
Don't need a book plenty of info on irv2 heres one link that can get you started. RV Library
And from one of our own. Cruzer
Paul is a good man to know.
Enjoy the forum and do post often.

WOW.. I am not sure i have ever seen 007 give such glowing appraisals of all involved.. so go with whatever he has said (or tell everyone else involved you want part of that kickback! ) ... I can tell you many times the extended coverage can be purchased before a certain time and mileage - so check that also...

To; SuperB;

Congrats on almost being a Newmar camper.

I know you've made a good choice.

As far as extended warranty's, look at Warranty Direct.

This is what I bought after lots of research and questions on IRV2. There is a lot of info on IRV2 and also a lot of different plans.

My understanding is that the Exclusionary plans are the best because they tell you what is not covered.

The dealers plans are more costly because they make money on them. Dealing direct, you save.

Good luck with your research.

Keep asking questions if you have any doubts.

Hope this info helps.

To; SuperB;

I forgot to mention that it would be cheaper if you bought extended warranty right after you take delivery and the coverage takes effect when Newmars' coverage ends.

The cost will be less than it would be after Newmars' coverage ends because the insurance company knows the rig because they can get all records from delivery on, which can't be done with a Used rig.

Thanks---AIME---AJ--

SuperB, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. Congratulations on your new Dutch Star. I am sure you will enjoy it and this webiste very much. Start making a list of the things you want to put in it to take to the campgrounds.
If the coach does not have a Surge Guard I would recommend you get on and put it on. If there is a topic you want to read about you can do a search by clicking on the "Find" button at the top of the forum box and uncheck the box in the pop up to search the entire forum. Good luck and have fun!

SuperB, welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar clan.

I found my best deal on insurance at FARM & CITY.

BTW, we won't hold the Iggles (Eagles) thing against you.

Hi SuperB,
Congrats on your jumping in with both feet. I'm glad to see more of these Newmars in South Jersey. Unfortunately not all the insurance companies offer coverage to us here. I found my best deal through National Interstate of Hawaii. Tobin Agency is very close to me but you can also do it online with RV America Insurance. Good luck with the new coach, I'm sure you and yours will have many great times.

Thanks, Daryl

Super B

I did some extensive research on extended warranties about a year ago and posted my opinions on the Newmar Yahoo site. Rather use up bandwidth on IRV2, here is a link to that info. If the link doesn't work, it's in the files section of the Newmar Diesel group.

http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/IMUARzGB8nzWe-jU0ymSw3tcdh.../Extended%20Warranty

All I'll say is move cautiously on buying an extended warranty. There are a lot of pitfalls in having one. I did purchase one through my dealer. I haven't had any claims as yet so I can't say if I bought the right one or not. All I know is that with the three year factory warranty and my 7 year extended warranty I'm ending up with a total of ten years of warranty.

Hi! Hey Super Buddy, if I knew you were going to post that stupid Eagles Logo, I would have talked you into a boat! But needless to say, after the Eagles play the Jets on 10/14/07 you will be taking it down and replacing it with a Jets Logo. You better hope the Jets win, otherwise when I show you how to use the sewer hose it may get interesting. Paul

Jack, are sure you have 10 years total? Most extended service policies are 7 years from the original in service date.

Important info on extended service contracts...
buy ones that are exclusionary...and it is VERY unusual if they start after the manufacturers warranty...I know them to start usually the day of "in-service" OR when you buy the coverage AS long as you are in warranty..and then the miles go only until the miles you bought!!
