New and green
We just joined and have only read as a guest, so we are not too familiar with the navigation. Lots of informative reads on here.

Welcome. May you find this a friendly place with lots of help should you need it. .Navigation is, of course, a pain. So I will tell you what I do..

Is the URL I go to when I check in thie brings up all the NEW messages (Since last visit) Often 5-10 pages of them, I open each page in a new tab (Firefox) then go to the last page. Check out the headers of interest, then hit "Quick Links" at the top and "Mark Forums Read"
Then I close that tab, read the new messages of interest from that page (Which I opened in tabs) and as I finish with each one I close that tab till I get to the next :"Search:" page (The next to the last) then I do the same thing there with the exception of skipping the "mark read" steps (Since you only need to do that once a visit)
That works best for me.. May or may not for you. Of course the vast majority of threads I'm not interested in, but this forums' software does not let me filter easily as does the software in a few other places I visit.
