New and Inexperienced, but I'm so Excited!

Hi everyone,

I have been following this forum for a few months while trying to decide on the best RV for my situation. I'd like to thank all of you for the helpful information and tips about RVs. My husband and I finally purchased an ORV 24 KTS, and we will be picking it up on July 3rd.

Quick background info: My husband and I have been married for 30 years, and we have 5 grown children and a 3 year old grandson. I decided to go to school after the kids moved out, and now I am a 3rd year med student. I am going to medical school in Chicago, but my husband and kids are still on the east coast. It has been a long and rough road, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will be embarking on my clinical rotations in January of 2019, and I decided to purchase an RV for rotations as well as residency.

I chose a 2018 ORV 24 KTS because of the relatively reasonable price and the ability to dry camp for long periods of time. I am going to purchase an inverter generator, and I am hoping to install more solar panels in the near future (I have 160W already).

I have been trying to look online and do some research, but I still have so many questions about living in an RV. I am currently studying for my board exam, so I honestly have limited time for RV research. I hope you all don't mind a plethora of questions from me over the next few months. I appreciate any and all advice you have for me.

I will be moving into the RV and living in it full time starting at the end of August. I am nervous and excited at the same time. Most people think I am crazy for doing this, but I have 5 children (homeschooled all of them) and I am in medical school now. That is crazy.

Sorry for the long-winded post.

Good Luck with the new ORV 24KTS!

We’ve modded ours and are very happy with the results. Our solar setup is working very well!

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You're gonna like it here.

Congrats on your new ORV. Best of luck with it. My dad went to med school later in life so I know what you are going through. Congratulations.

Happy Trails!!!
