New BC Members

Hi All: We have been rv-ing for quite some time. However, we are now preparing for our trip across Canada, down the Eastern Seaboard and back up to BC next spring (2014). Any help, suggestions or your own lovely trip experiences will be gratefully received. We hope to leave in August and would like to focus on the Maritimes. Also, any suggestions about the Eastern Seaboard. We are thinking to cross into Maine on 15 October. We have a 39 ft 5th wheel.

Welcome aboard. I can't comment on that too much but I know the travel all the way down Trans-Canada Hwy1 is good until you get to Ontario
Then the road is like a rumble-strip the way I remember it. I had to go to Sioux St. Marie to pick up a stacker car trailer with my 379 Peterbilt. There were times we had to drive the truck at about 40 KPH. it was so rough especially when pass over small bridges, etc.

I am wondering a little bit about the timing of your departure. If you are planning on travelling around the maritimes and are taking a leisurely trip across the country, you might find yourself running out of good weather or open RV parks. I don't know if you are planning to go to Nfld or Labrador but for such a journey, one might be hard pressed to get a chance to take it all in if the weather abandons you. Having said that, the weather may be absolutely beautiful unlike how some regions are getting hammered right now.

As for POI in Eastern Canada
There are plenty

Confederation Bridge - PEI
Hopewell Rocks - NB
L'Anse au Meadows - NF
The Bluenose - NS
Peggy's Cove - NS
Louisberg - NS
St. John's - NF
Gros Morne - NF
Cavendish - PEI
Red Bay -Lab
Cape Breton Highlands - NS
Boardwalks in Batouche - NB
Halifax - NS
Charlottetown - PEI
Signal Hill - NF
The Citatdel - NS

That is just a taste. You have a wonderful adventure in front of you. Enjoy it.

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! We're really glad you joined!

Sounds like an exciting trip! I would suggest that you post questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area. Enjoy the forum!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Thank you Sirpurrcival. We are hopefully leaving end of July and think we will cross over the boarder beginning of October. That should give us plenty of time. And yes, we do want to go to Newfoundland, only then we can say we have been coast to coast. I am now keeping a book of things to do and see and will certainly add your suggestions. Thanks again.
