New camper

Hello. My family just bought a Shasta Oasis 30QB. It is our second trailer and boy have things changed! We had a 1995 Franklin and the difference is night and day. So much smarter usage of space and some neat features that make things easier on you. I found this site while looking for an answer to an electrical problem. I have two ideas to try and correct it, if not I'll be back on here to ask for help. We are excited to see and share ideas with you all!

welcome to the site.....I agree....campers have come a long way. They're more like homes on wheels now versus just being a camper. You can get pretty comfortable in them these days. You can also get them with tons of storage now. We have a family of 5 and probably 50% of the cabinets in our camper are still empty 5 years later.

Thank you!! I am going to call the dealer today about my electrical issues. I thought I'd ask you all as well. The dealer is 90 minutes away and I will try what I can to avoid them coming out here. The fuse that blows as soon as power goes through it is the one labeled kitchen. I believe that it is 4 lights, all on the ceiling. I did remove all bulbs and tried again, but the fuse blew. I also have a main control center with 2 switches for lights labeled 1 and 2. The #2 is where the kitchen lights are connected. I removed that panel to make sure there isn't a short there and there seems to be no problem. Am I correct that there must be a wire grounded at a light or at the fuse box? I am not 100% sure that the 4 kitchen lights are the only things connected to the circuit. There are also two outlets in the kitchen. That just hit me while typing this, so I guess I need to see if they work as well. Anyhow, do you know of any other things to look for other than loose, or grounded wires?

The second problem is we have a amber colored lens over, I believe, a light. It is just outside the door. It is caulked in and I do not see a way to open it without cutting the caulk. We cannot find a switch for it anyhow? Could it be on the kitchen circuit? I was thinking maybe because of possible water, it needs to be on the gfci?

Any help is appreciated!!

Chris
