Smile New class A but not new to RVing

Greetings!
We are from NW FL and just rcently purchased a 2019 Newmar Bay Star 3626. We upgraded from a Hurricane 27K that we loved because our 100% disabled Army veteran son now travels with us. There wasn't room for his wheelchair and paraphernalia in the smaller one, plus, he needed a bed, not a table, to sleep on.

I teach school and my husband cares for Nathan full-time so we travel over Christmas, Spring Break, and about 6 weeks in the summer. We are really excited to have more space and comfort for traveling.

We did use a tow dolly but are also going to be purchasing a flat towable vehicle to make traveling easier now. That is what brought me here, seeking sage advice from those who know.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Army Strong and Proud

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new coach.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Read the various threads here, especially the ones concerning towing and toads for some ideas and a place to ask specific questions.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Welcome to the forum. Lots of answers here as well as some opinions . We also went through everything from a Tent to a Travel Trailer, even had a Horse trailer with living quarters, but we love our MH. I noticed you re from NW Florida, we live near Eglin AFB. I suggest taking a long weekend with your new coach at one of the local State parks, Hurricane Lake is one of our favorites, (although it only offers 30 Amp electric), to do a shake out cruise or two. It helps you figure out the little quirks and also what you might have left at home.

As for choosing a toad we went with a Jeep because it offered what we wanted and is very easy to prep for flat towing. Motorhome Magizine (on line also) publishes an annual towing guide. I would start there and get some ideas about which vehicles will work for you.

Enjoy your new lifestyle when traveling.

Thanks for the great ideas, Berryfarmer. We actually live outside Crestview so are also near Eglin. This is our third class A, started with an oooold Damon, bought a new Thor in 2015 that we loved the floorplan but needed more space now so recently bought the Bay Star. We spent 10 days in her at Christmas for our shakedown and she is currently at the dealership getting those minor things handled. We are looking forward to a second shakedown over spring break.
