Angry New from British Columbia

We have a 2009 Cameo F37RE3 that we love but have had major slide issues. Replaced motor and gears three times on kitchen slide and motor and gears on door side slide once. Currently it is in Spokane, WA as kitchen slide would not come in. Just wondered if anyone else has had these issues and if so how did you have it fixed?

Welcome to irv2. The type ( electric / hydraulic )and mfg of your slideout system would be helpful.

Sounds like something is sticking the slides. Have you ever cleaned the rails and lubed them with anything other than dry lube? Also the major problems could be a voltage issue. You need to check all of the electrical connections from the battery to the motor to be sure they are clean and tight. Also you could try running a heavy gage wire directly from the battery to the motor to see what happens. I seriously doubt that you could burn up motors unless your holding the switch on for extended periods of time after the slide is in position.
One last thought. do your slides use the heavy duty rocker switch to move them in/out? If so I would be willing to bet the switch is your problem. Those contacts burn easily and could cause the issues. If that turns out to be the problem, buy some heavy duty reversing relays and install them.

replaced 3 times? sounds like a structural/assembly issue.....As the replacement parts are replaced it sounds like the problem isn't diagnosed....I'm betting there is a bigger issue which is causing the slides not to move freely...and burning out motors and gears.

Carriage has had some slide issues and above are two forums that are well versed in the issues. You need to get a shop that really understands the slides on these units.

Manufacturers
RBW is the manufacturer of the slide mechanisms and they are willing to help shops as well.

Otherwise, the Carriage trailers are fantastic trailers.

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Sorry I can't help with your question, but I would suggest that you post specific questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area. Enjoy the forum!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
