Good Morning and welcome to this forum. Curious about how you are traveling up the river, and how far upstream are you going?
Where is Spring Texas located? Are you vacationing in the New Orleans area? If so where are you staying?
Sounds like I am just full of questions

Spring , Texas is just north of Houston and south of Conroe.
Glad to have you join iRV2. Be sure and drop down and check out the Texas Boomers. Lots of live around the Houston Area and have a rally later in the year at Cut-n-Shoot.

Welcome to iRV2. As Ken said, quite a few of us live in the greater Houston area - Sandy and I are in Cypress. Please feel free to drop in on a Texas Boomers state or area get-together (see the link in my signature). Heck, we Boomers in the Houston area even get together for a Saturday night restaurant run fairly frequently, but eating is what we seem to do best.

There's a great park right in Spring called Rayford Crossing RV Resort. We'll be spending the fall and winter there, and there is lots to do there. It has won awards two years out of the last three.

Newcomers
Wow, I got so busy with repairs and other things I did not check on here. We were staying in KOA West in New Orleans area, went up to Poche River Plantation RV Park in convent Saturday and back to Lafayette, La., KOA on Tuesday night then home on Wednesday. Put new tires on the MH in mid '05 and had less than 7000 miles on them. Had not had the MH out in a year but under covered storage. Blew out both the right rears 35 miles north of NO inbound. Called out a service company TCI Tires via GEICO insurance, cost asbout $700 for two tires then in to NO. Satellite (Tracstar 360) did not work, constantly scanning. 50 amp female plug quit at 3AM first night so I 'southern engineered' it outside in the dark and 2000% heat and humidity. Got new plug ($112) from Bent RV on Thursday and installed. Home Depot has them just not in stock for $67.
Got 4 more new tires on Friday AM, another $1900. Satellite still does not lock on. And Sophie the Yorkie wont eat, guess she is also stressed out.
Went to Poche on Saturday. Got on top and moved the sat coax from one terminal on the lnb to another and instant tv. Lasted for about 24 hours then quit again. Company sent new LNB and a software update and I got that installed yesterday.
Toured a lot of plantations and really enjoyed the history, Incredible number of ship or other type terminals on Mississippi river south of Baton Rouge. the river road, LA44, runs immediately adjacent to the levee and you can drive up on the levee in thousands of places. You are about 100 feet from the river at that time.
Got up Sunday AM and both rear tires on the drivers side were flat. called out TCI again and they re-seated both tire beads on rim. Seems there is a ring of light rust where the tire bead met the rim and it caused the leaks.
Anyway, we got home okay, got the cable going in Lafayette, Sophie started eating again when home, and all is well with the world!
If we are going to keep this beast we have to use it. And with the prices of RV's right now, we HAVE to keep it.
We are both retired, me from the FAA in 2002 and Gin quit working at a paying job in 1970. Worked the next 40 years taking care of me and the two boys. Been here in Spring since Jan of 1970.
