New from Texas (for now!)

Hello! I'm Matt, a 28 year old Navy Corpsman. My wife and I are not normal for our age. Our vacations are typically quiet getaways to bed-and-breakfasts in Gettysburg, Chincoteague, middle-of-nowhere Virginia, etc. I was working at a high-paying job as a project engineer, but I was miserable. So, at the ripe old age of 27, my wife and I dropped everything so I could join the Navy. Took a dramatic pay cut, but I am extremely happy and getting training in a job that will pay as much as I was as a project engineer. Turns out that life works out in the end with a little (or a lot) of hard work.

My wife and I are anxiously awaiting the time when we can take our first RV trip (will likely rent from Cruise America) from San Antonio down to Corpus Christi. We love the idea of an RV, and are open to the idea of becoming full-timers.

We'd likely stay put for work (whether or not I stay in the Navy), but we like the flexibility of having an RV for ease of vacationing and someday in the future retiring and just exploring every inch of the country. Also, if I remain in the military, moving will not be an issue. Just put the RV in gear and go! My job in the Navy is unique, as my command assignments last six years instead of the normal two or three.

We have a lot of research to do and renting/experimenting; we're in no rush and will definitely not make any rash decisions. We'll probably make a trip to a nearby Camping World to look around fairly soon just for fun and to start educating ourselves on what is out there and what is involved in owning an RV.
