We are driving the second US made motorhome in Switzerland. Before these two we had a German made and an Italian made one. My wife Riny and myself are originally from Holland (not Michigan...... We went to Switzerland for more than 40 years ago because I wanted to work for a Swiss company in the field of steam- and gasturbines and after a couple of years go back to Holland. But we liked the way of living and my work that much that we hang on and now we are Swiss citizens and no drive to go back at all.
The first one was a Minnie Winnie. Very well motorized but no room for all the goodies you want to have while travelling. So we traded this one in for a 25 ft Brave which was the RV og the importer and also used for drivers training, because you need a special drivers licence both in Switzerland as in other European countries to drive a motorhome in excess of 3.5 ton.We now travel through Europe and next spring we may go to Sicily for the second time. I am still dreaming of putting the Brave on a roll-on/roll-of ship to Baltimore and drive in the US and Mexico (Copper Canyon) but if I look at the freight bill and our tickets including our dutch shepherd we feel that we can do a lot also in Europe.
I just learned this afternoon that our Onan generator is running again. The problem was a broken lead between the slipring and the rotor field winding ( not unknown to me this had happened with one of the generators supplied to Canada as well!!). We needed a new rotor from Onan because a repair was a bit tricky I believe.
I am glad I found this forum and I already looked at the plumbing diagrams here to get another thing repaired. Problems with my diesel engine I can discuss also in the US on "The Diesel Page"
Hope to talk to you later
Riny and John.
