Greetings! Just bought our first Motorhome. A 09 Monaco Monarch and wanted to join a related forum. Traded in our 03 5th wheel Montana. I already see there are many differences moving from a trailer to a motorhome, both good and bad.

Glad to have you here on iRV2. Got any questions, just ask. Also check out our Monaco Owners Group ...good bunch for help.
We have gone from pop up to travel trailer to class A to class C to 5th wheel and back to a travel trailer. Once we retire, we will most likely go back to a 5th wheel. Each one has it's unique pluses and minuses.

Our favorite in WV has been Beechfork near Huntington.

Dmiles,
Do you mean Mountain Lake CG at Summersville? We've been there, but it's been a while (back before we had the coach). Very beautiful (of course, I haven't been to a WV state park that isn't)! I see from their website they put in "lake front" sites earlier this spring? Do you know what section those are in? I usually prefer either early spring (rhododendrons in bloom) or fall (leaf color) in WV, so we're limited to Section 2 since the rest of the loops aren't open then.

Yes you are correct...it used to be Mountain Manor, and I just have never been able to get used to the name change, although it's been several years.
The last time I was there was for one night traveling through over the fourth of July. The new sites were not officially open yet, they were still working on them. But they were happy to let us walk into the new section, and there were some folks camping there, but I think they were actually the people who were working there. They look to have really "done it up right" on this new section, it looks more like a campground than the older parts. Since you've been there I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Where by necessity in the older part they tend to carve out campsites wherever they could, the new part is more level ground with rows of pull-through sites.
Don't get me wrong...I started out camping in a tent, and did so there for many years and I love the privacy and seclusion that some of those older sites offer, but in a motor home it can be more of a challenge, and I'm sure these newer sites will appeal to the folks with the big rigs.

Yes, we do give up some of the pristine camping experience with our big coaches, but I'll take the coach over a tent any day (did the tent thing..the ground is too hard - or my backside has gotten too soft - for me anymore ). So I've put Mountain Lake down on my list of CG's to get back to, to check out their new sites. Thanks!
