New Guy Checking In

I have a Four Winds 18B trailer since 2005. I was working in the wilderness on the US-Mex border so wifey bought it so I and she when down, could sleep in nearby parks as well as right next to the fence, or lack of fence and walls Border. After that we used it to sleep on military bases in California and Nevada, off road on vacant land properties we bought and sold. Plugged it in and other times used wind and solar power conversion. I have used it as a dog house, myself being the dog running from a angry wife. Ran away a few times in it sleeping here and there hooked up and free wild style. Oh, I get free use of all California State Parks so I have used it mostly the beach, FREE or rather I paid via pain, suffering, lost of blood, flesh and peace of mind aka Combat PTSD. "I was a soldier once, and young"

Anyway, today I was looking to say something regarding Black Jack Ultra-roofing 1000 roof coating as I was looking up possible use of it on my trailer roof, but all forum mention is on truck camper and bus camper sights so I thought I better move to my owns sights, so here I am, with my own.

So anyway I used it. I had a leak Camping World failed to fix after 2 weeks in their shop. I had the Black Jack (Do Not let the name throw You. It is White) I have it from a desert cabin roof job I had a kid do. This I did! I double coated my trailer roof (3 gallons) using 3/4 nap roller, a paint brush for edges and around through vents, etc. 24 hours between coats. You must have 65 F for 2 days after...Did not get a chance to test it with a hose as we had a freak rain late last night, then a sudden down pour later last night. Wow, not a drop inside. $19 for 2 rollers. I had the brush. Beat a camping world $2000 roof job, oh and 5 gal of Black Jack is around $90.

Camping World, without a test replaced my AC seal and then they tested for leaks by pumping gas inside. They said the trailer roof did not leak. However, the leak was in a cupboard so ?. I took it home and used a hose on roof and it leaked same as usual. Out $350, they did refund $99 for the test. I must say, I have never seen people that fail so much, over and over again to communicate and get the job done. This is camping World San Marcos, CA. Nice people but what they have is "failure to Communicate" The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, saying, thinking nor do either communicate what the brain said. I spoke to them 4 times and my wife spoke to them several times in detail and they still never got it. Finally they suggested a $2000 roof job, after the $350 failed seal attempt and a new $600 window replacement when all I had was a broken latch..and a laundry list of other fixes. I am no handyman but I was not going to replace the whole roof for a small leak. I went home and I literally prayed my way through (for wisdom and help). I removed the latch screws & rivots and using small nuts and bolts, a nail (on hand), a piece of aluminum from home Depot and a hand grider, made, formed and repaired the old latch. A lot of heat and sparks. Ended up better than the original in strength. Patienly I painted the edge of roof, jamming the white silicon roof coating into every nuck and cranny and rolling the flat.

Anyway, I am here on the forum now. In the fall, I will go up to 29 palms, wonder valley and builld my first fence (barbared wire), drop in brace posts, pound in metal t-posts and hang gates around a 5 acre property. Dig holes, string wire, mix and pour cement working out of my trailer, using a gasoline gen and solar gen. I am 64 yrs old so this ought to be a show for the lizards and tortoise, birds and coyotes. Creating a desert get-a-way with gov land on 3 sides. Quiet! Pretty Isolated!
