Hello all! Just checking in to say hi. I am not super new to rv's as I greew up around them and have had a pop up of my own for several years. I have just enough knowledge to make myself dangerous with these things.

A little info about what we are doing. My significant other and I have purchased a piece of property on the Suwannee river here in FL. We have well septic and power along with an couple of outbuildings on the property. We are looking for a travel trailer to put out there to use as a house, not our fulltime place but a weekend getaway. The river will flood so we need to be able to move it out at times. We are not planning on building for a long time because rules, permits and regulations make it prohibitivly expensive right now.
This camper will only be moved for floods or repairs that cannot be done on site.

Looking for something in the 25 to 30 range with at least one slide. Bunks, we have two children. We are trying to keep cost around 10k. So i am looking for advice, things or brands to stay away from. Things we may want that we have not thought of. We are boaters and it seems as though used rvs are kind of like used boats. At the ages and prices we are looking for it is all about maintenence and how it was kept by the previous owner. Which is my main concern as to how to tell how something has been maintained, ect. I know look for soft spots in floors and things like that but any other advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Howdy and welcome! Good luck in your search. I have heard that the RV resale market is great in Florida, so hopefully you'll locate a gem at a great price. In my experience with previously-owned stuff (houses, cars, etc), the overall appearance usually correlates with how well the item was maintained. Clean, well-kept exterior USUALLY means the previous owner had pride of ownership and kept up with maintenance. Other than that, I'd say to have a professional conduct an inspection, and check all the systems as best you can. Also check the mfg date on the tires. Hope you find a winner!

Welcome Stubbs. Sounds like an interesting project. When is the last time the Suwannee flooded? I don't recall that ever being mentioned as an often happening problem.
