Ok, so I'm not your typical RV'er, but I might become one. I live in St. Louis and my son is playing college football at the University of Indianapolis, so I did the only thing a proud father can do, I bought an old RV and turned it into a tailgating machine. I bought a 1992 Holiday Rambler Imperial 35'. The rig is in great shape and was very well taken care of, last year the owner put a new engine and tranny in and it runs great. I've had it out on the road twice now driving back and forth from Indiana, with no issues. But I do have a couple questions...

1. The main AC isn't blowing very hard, the air is cold, but I'm not getting a lot of movement. I'm going to take the cowl off and make sure it's clean tomorrow, is there anything else you'd recommend me trying? Does anyone know what type of AC came on this rig? The system has ducts, if I were to replace the unit would it be pretty straight forward?

2. I know I drive too fast, I'm going to try to slow down this trip, but I do get a good deal of bouncing out of the dash. The steering is solid, and the wheels seem to be in balance, so I was thinking of bracing the dash directly to the floor to see if that helped, any thoughts?

3. Brakes work, but take a lot of effort. Is this typical or is there something I can check our have serviced?

I honestly have zero answers to your questions but just wanted to say GREAT JOB! Definitely one of the coolest dad things you could do and it looks spectacular.

On your A/C, some duct systems have intakes in the ceiling, check each of your ducts and make sure the filters are clean. Our Kountry Star had 6 intakes with foam filters we had to clean. If they are dirty, they will decrease your airflow.

Thanks for the welcome... We've always been a football family and our first tailgate RV was a '75 sports coach we did for the Missouri Tigers games... We had such a ball we decided to do it again.

The brakes shouldn't be that hard to push. Possibly need new brake pads.

That will be one beer please...when is the next game?

I had similar issue with my air units. Ended up the fan motors on both A/C's had bad bearings. In fact one just stopped working then a week later the other stopped. They were a little over 10 years old and replacement parts are not inexpensive so just bought two new Dometic Penguin A/C units. Awesome difference and much quieter.

Wow, that rig looks great and I bet it causes lot of comments and questions. Beautiful! Like the Tiger rig too.

Don't have any answers other than what has been mentioned. Air filters make a huge difference if they are dirty. Some people not real good about keeping on maintenance and then you get the job when you buy.

As for the Air Conditioning. You have a good plan. You can read labels and such while working on it,, Clean everything, this will require you remove not only the outer covers but some inner covers as well.

You will need a towel to lay on the intake to make sure debris does not fall through.. Also clean the intake filters inside the coach.

Ducted air does not blow all that hard but it blows all over and this makes a difference.

As for the dash.. I think you have a handle on it better than I do so all I can say is "Good plan". I had to do some work on mine too.
