new (hopeful) boondocker

Hello all,

My husband and I just purchased a chinook and hope to start some roaming!
We pick it up in Albany NY and will have a week or so to return to MN. Very open regarding routes home but considering Adirondacks/Finger Lakes.
Would like to try boondocking -- we don't prefer the big RV parking lot experience.

Any advice on how a newbie can find sites? I have started to cast about online - which is how I found this site. Something about DEC spots and loons drew me right in!

Any advice or ideas greatly appreciated as we have just under two weeks to plan.
Also I remember seeing a site that allows private property owners to list there places as boondock friendly. We have land in MN and a house in FL...
thanks all!
