New in Houston, TX

So my wife and I have rented a 26 foot Motorhome for a couple of vacations. We have two cats and really enjoy the practicality of driving with pets and never having to crate them when we stop to use the restroom, eat, or move into a hotel. Our two RV trips were very relaxing and we want to do another trip this summer, so we were thinking about buying rather than renting.

If we own we can do more trips and in theory save money over the long run when compared to renting. Now we have so many questions about the purchase and maintaining of an RV ... so I thought I would come here to get all my questions answered.

Thank you all for your future answers!

Jon

You are in a great spot to see a large variety of RV's. If you buy from these folks or not you can see all manner of RV's in one spot and learn what you want to look for.

Used RVs, Motorhomes for Sale, and Consigned sales - PPL Motor Homes

Good luck in your search

Greetings from Friendswood, Tx. Hopefully you were able to go to the RV show at the Astro-Arena last week. They had a fair amount of new RVs there and some good ideas for where to go with the RV. Otherwise, PPL is a good option for used RVs. I bought my last two (only 2) RVs at Demontrond north. Hope you will find all your RV-ing answers here!

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I have a steep learning curve for ownership here. But I am pretty sure that I will like easing into the RV lifestyle as I have rented a couple of times. My father also owns a boat and the last time I was with him on the boat I was thinking that it was an RV that floats! If I ever get my dad on an RV he would fix or modify everything.

BTW, I have heard about PPL, but have not visited them yet. I live pretty close to Demontrond North, but have not visited recently (I have learned a lot since my last visit 3 years ago).

My wife and I did visit the Houston RV show and we did see quite a few new MHs that we were interested in. I have heard though that we might rather buy a slightly used MH as new ones take a while to break in and fix all the manufacturer defects. Comments??

Thank you all for newbie support!

Welcome. You can get a lot of good information here. Dogs played a big part in our decision to begin RVing. The cost of boarding them alone can offset the price of fuel for the RV. It cost me $721 to board them last year when we flew to Cozumel for a week. I went to New Mexico for a week (1800 mi R/T) and it only cost me $633 in diesel. Of course the biggest advantage is sharing the experience with them.
