I am a 58-YO woman who just bought my first motorhome. It is a Jayco Granite Ridge, 28-foot. My two female cousins and I are going to caravan and live in our motorhomes for a year. We have a LOT to learn, including finding campgrounds we can afford, boondocking (how long is that possible), etc., etc. I had a "trial by fire" on my first trip (500 miles). My older motorhome had tires with great tread but they were old. I had THREE blowouts in the trip between Salt Lake and Ft. Collins, CO. It almost scared me out of the idea, but not quite.

Congratulations and welcome to the family!

Boon docking is a matter of personal style, if you're frugal with the water(depending on tank size) you can last a week or more.

We stayed on some family property north of Steamboat for 9 days last spring using, generator for microwave and let the gray water drain into the pasture.
Your black tank is the biggest concern but if it's just you using it it should last quite awhile. ( we had DW, me of course, 3 girls and our son).

Forgot to bring in the trash one night and woke up to a brown bear having a feast at 3am.
Very scary! won't leave any trash out ever again. I was amazed the dogs didn't make a sound, I think they sensed the danger when it put a paw on the side of the rig,stood up and looked DOWN into the passenger side window!
I had the 410 pistol at the ready but still scared the c&!p out of us all..

Thank you. I got six brand new tires in Rawlins, Wyo. I figured three was enough of a hint. The mechanic saidi by looking at number four, it would have blown within 50 miles (lots of bulges). It was a hard lesson, but a valuable one.

Sorry to here of you adventure with tires, but you should be set for a while now.
There are online sources for campgrounds. Boondocking depends on capacities of fresh water,holding tanks and if you have a generator or solar to charge the batteries. Have fun !
