Hello

I live in Pensacola FL. I started camping after my husband passed away. I have a 13 foot Scamp travel trailer. I've had it for a year. Love it.
I just ran across a 1986 TRAVELCRAFT Wide Body Class B PLUS
What kind of questions would you ask before buying this vintage gal.
What concerns should I be aware of.

I am a solo camper. My Blonde Peke and I travel together. HE is a super watch dog....Even tho is is only 12 pounds. He can/does raise a a racket, if any one gets to close to the our quarters.

I look forward to learning much from this group.

Thanks.

Terri

Well, you've landed in the middle of a huge flock of devoted spouses: DWs, DHs, DPs. Someone going it alone touches us profoundly.

Brace yourself for a tsunami of help

Terri, Welcome to the forum. I was stationed in Pensacola for 2 years a long time ago. I really liked it there and would like to visit some time. I especially liked the beach.

I'm not familiar with the B+ you mention, but if you like the layout and your comfortable with it, then go for it, but have it checked out by someone.

As John said, if you like and are comfortable with it, have it checked out by a mechanic you know and trust and of course have the house systems checked as well.
Best of luck from a fellow solo camper soon to be traveling to your part of the world.

Welcome Terri,

Sorry to hear that your husband passed away but good to hear that you haven't given up on camping. Your Blonde Peke should be a good traveling companion.

Have the motor, transmission and suspension checked by a qualified mechanic to make sure it has been properly maintained. Being that it is in Florida check for rust/salt damage.

Then check the tires to see how old they are. They recommend replacing tires between 5 & 7 years.

Then take it to a campground and make sure everything works. Check for water leaks, make sure all appliances and air conditioners/heaters work.

The list goes on and on.

Good Luck,
Jon

Hi Terri and welcome! You might post your questions about your "vintage gal" in the Vintage RV section. Those guys are very knowledgeable and will be willing to help. (They might not check this section to see your posts.)
