Hello, I am a new member from Washington State. I came across this site while searching for information on a travel trailer I just bought to restore. Yesterday I purchased a 1953 Yankee Clipper 19' Travel Trailer. I can't seem to find anything about the ole girl and need to know if anyone has one or has heard of them.
We also have a 1997 Dutch Star by Newmar. We love it and just wish we could get out more in it. It drives like a dream and get about 12-15 mpg.
Thank you for this site and hope to chat with more of you soon.

Welcome to the community! You've got my attention on that '53 Clipper. I can remember seeing information on them before, have to see if I can find it again for you.

Hi, welcome Sallysue! I love seeing the before and after pics of the vintage rigs. We wouldn't have the talent to restore our big toe, so we live through you folks. Can't wait to see the 53 Yankee Clipper. Be sure to visit the Vintage section. Good luck!

Whereabouts in WA? We're in Anacortes just over the ridge, south of the Ferry terminal.

Found *some* information for you. Being a '53, stuff on the 'Net is fairly rare.
I believe your Yankee Clipper is actually manufactured by American Clipper, now owned by Rexhall. The model would have been "Yankee Clipper". A fairly uncommon to rare trailer to begin with, it's only become more so with the passage of time.
Original parts may be difficult, and I wonder if Rexhall has anything in the archives from when they acquired American Clipper. Worth a shot, in my opinion, to drop them an inquiry.

OH! and just because it's kinda cool to find, here is an Google-scan of a Milwaukee, WI newspaper advertising new Yankee Clipper and Driftwood trailers for sale.
The Milwaukee Sentinel - Google News Archive Search
