Hi Elmer! Man, I can appreciate where you are right now. A few months ago we were in that exact same place! We have pulled a 5er since we started RV'ing in 2001. In february we had the opportunity to buy a 40' DP at a really good price and jumped on it. I had never driven a MH before picking it up in Montgomery, AL and driving back to Columbus, MS. To say I was nervous would be the under-statement of the year! After about 30 minutes of driving, running off the pavement a few times, I began to get more comfortable with it, and by the time we got back to MS I felt like I had been driving it all my life! Now my wife, that's another story! She was terrified the entire trip, constantly screaming that I was about to run off the road! When we got back to Columbus I had to pry her hands loose from the armrests! To make a long story short, she finally agreed to take the MH on a trip out west that we had already planned for the first of may. We agreed to keep the 5th wheel until we got back, then decide which one to sell! We drove close to 7000 miles in the MH plus about 2000 miles in the toad, went through 13 states, and stayed gone 8 weeks to the day!
As I said, the deal was before leaving that when we got back the decision would be made whether to sell the 5th wheel or the MH. Well, we're keeping the MH! I'm making a lot of changes to it now, making it more to our liking and comfort. I'm recovering from shoulder surgery now and won't be able to drive for a few weeks, but then everybody better look out, we're gonna be hitting the road again!
Good luck & God bless!

Is a diesel pusher one where the engine is in the back?

I'm new too. Our RV is 36 foot and seems huge to me, I cannot imagine larger!

Nice to see another new person here.

Hi Elmer, welcome to the forum. Don't worry, you and the DP will get along fine. I'm willing to bet that you won't go back.
