Glad a friend turned me on to this site, have been going through some threads and they are packed with information. I currently have an Itasca Sunova and looking to go diesel like the Phanton but after reading some of the post not sure now plus limited funds. So looking for other options want to travel from Virginia to west coast soon and want something reliable not that what I have isn't but have been told that a diesel would pull mountains better pulling a toad. Any suggestions.?

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. Someone also turned me on to this site and I have been grateful every since. We also bought a Sunova and it is a gasser. Have gone from Texas to MI with it and had no big issues on hills but I am sure the DP's would be better at it if you have a big enough one.

It really is a personal need and with budget concerns (like a lot of us) it becomes that more than the other. Hope you get a good answer here but I expect you will. I've been told the V10 will do just fine. I figured if it got too much I would just drive the toad instead of pulling it.

Good luck with finding the right answer for you.

Welcome aboard. A diesel would always be a better option pulling a toad over mountains if your heading west. Depends largely on your funds though. Good luck with your research and your choice.

Safe and Happy Travels.

I have been RVing for 20+ years...out west for the summer the last 15 years...nice to escape the Florida heat and humidity. Have had a DP in past, but not prefer medium sized class A gas. I will unhook for a occasional mountain pass...not a problem and wife follows in Jeep tow with hand held radio. The Ford V10 has very good power...the Ford tow/haul feature is great. Easier on the budget, can rationalize upgrading more frequently, not all that much of a fuel saving with DP, can get into many more places, etc.

Its all about your personnel preference .... how much will you use it after your planned trip noted ... what your living requirements are ... how much time do you indeed to stay in the coach ... etc .... Lots to consider ... including budget/investment ....... Good luck with your search ....

Welcome to the forum!

We just bought our first MH this year after 20-years of renting. We compiled a long list of wants and thing we did not want. No surprise the resulting dream MH was well beyond our budget. Or so we thought. instead of settling for less we settled for older. Imagine our glee when we found just the right MH for us, with everything we wanted, at a price we could afford. We call it our Kismet and have been on the road every chance we get.

The right motor home for you is out there, you just need to go find it!

Welcome

I would thank everyone for the warm welcome to iRV2 site. I have read the post on my post and am rethinking some things but I believe a diesel is in my future.

Thanks all
