Good Afternoon,
New RV owner and member. We own a Thor Miramar 34.2. Over the last six to eight months we have learned much about our RV. It is currently back to the shop for warranty work (We were told new RV's always have problems that need correcting. ) We haven't actually camped in the RV yet. We did spend a weekend in the driveway with it. We used different appliances and checked the generator out. The black water tank was leaking so we didn't use the bathroom during our driveway campout. I learned how to de-winterize it myself (the dealer winterized the RV). I did the sanitation of the water lines and tanks per Thor manual. We have drank the water without sickness so that is a plus ( I was worried I would send someone to the hospital). I still need to learn how to get the water heater working...reading up on that while it is in the shop. So once we get our girl back we are looking forward to going to a local campground to make sure we are proficient with everything before we do a far away camping trip. My husband and I are retired with two boys, 11 and 13 ... we are looking forward to many laughs and family fun.

He Fran and welcome to the forum! Sounds like you jumped right in and being terrified is part of the hobby of RVing.

There are plenty of YouTube videos for learning about your tanks and driving so take some time and watch a few.

Your manual is also a good resource but I would say when you go to the (CLOSE) CG don't be afraid to ask seasoned RVer's for some help. Most are pretty good about answering questions. They were new once too.

The driveway camping is the best way to learn. If you make a mistake you can just go inside. The dealership should show you WHEN YOU PICK UP YOUR RIG how the systems work. Ask them about the hot water heater before you leave and have them SHOW you how it works.

When we first turned on our propane to use the stove, we didn't understand that it takes time for the propane to get from the tank to the stove. Kept turning it off because we were worried we would have a fire and just about scared us to death. We laugh about it now and you are going to have plenty of those times too. But, when you get comfortable and just keep playing with things, the next thing you know you will just be having fun. This is a wonderful hobby.

Have a great time and don't be afraid to ask questions here, people are very helpful! Lynne

I'm sure you both will have many laughs and a lot of fun while RVing as well as a great amount of campfire talk. One point to remember when firing up the water heater, make sure the water heater tank is full of water, failure to do so will burn out the element and you will need to install a new element. Safe, trouble free travels.
