Hi,

I signed up here in June, just after we bought out little travel trailer. It came pre-labeled with this site’s stickers so I took a look, signed up and was promptly distracted by camping and life in general.

I’m pretty self sufficient and have been a mechanic of some sort all my life so I DYI fairly easily. I’ve already faced one major maintenance issue when the sidewall around the water heater delaminated due to water incursion from a poorly sealed wheel well. ;(

We have been mostly staying close to home and weekending due to the gas prices, but did make one trip to Northern Virginia in the rain (and discovered the leaky wheel well!).

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and correct, somewhat, the drive-by nature of my signup.

(Stickers are still there….)

kacknor,

Welcome fellow Buckeye! Glad to have you here. This is a great bunch of folks & you will find friendship & help here. Please post often of your travels & ask any questions you might have.

We've got a very active group of members in this area (the Pond Piggies). We rv together frequently in the NE OH/W PA areas of the region & would love to have you join us. As a matter of fact, we're trying to get together a large group of folks at Cutty's Sunset Resort (NE of Canton) for Memorial Day. We've already got a few sites set aside that & it'd be great to meet you. Check out the post in the North Central forum for information. Also, the 09 iRV2 Rally is going to be in OH, too. Go HERE for information & to sign up to attend. It would be a great place for you to meet a bunch of the nice folks that frequent this site. You will have a great time & with it being so close, you cannot miss it.

Happy travels.

Thanks for the welcome Lori!

I just wish to say “I DoItYourself” not DYI, whatever that means.

I will sure ask if anything comes up, but with a small TT the problems/solutions seem pretty straightforward to me. The days after I brought it home were basically me taking things apart, appliances out, covers off, and unscrewing panels to see what was there and figuring out how it all worked.

Most of my questions revolved around the normal everyday issues of where to dump the tanks and where to camp. Year before last when I was researching the buy, I checked on site reservations and found things were fairly tight and hard to come by. But last year with gas so high I could basically call the day before with no problems. With prices once again low it may be closer to the former in 2009.

I do enjoy reading the posts and learning what solutions others have found to work for them.

I do have one question, are most of the posters her full timers? There are some very nice rigs listed in the signature blocks and I may be feeling a bit self conscious with my little 19 foot tow behind…

No need to feel self conscious or intimidated here. Unlike some other sites, it doesn't matter what you have, just enjoy & have fun making rv-ing friends. For example, the group I told you about that rv's together in this region, we're comprised of working adults, families & couples, that run the gamut from a hybrid TT to a diesel bus. We all get along just fine & have a great time together.

I don't know what the ratio of full-timers to weekenders is here, but I'd say there's a good mix of both.

kacknor...Welcome to iRv2!! NLOVNIT is such a great ambassador for the NE region- isn't she! We are so glad that you have decided to "make it more than a driveby".

You will find that everyone here is very friendly & helpful. I think our members are the most knowledgeable in all different areas of RVing...so your "DIY" knowledge may also help many others.

We hope you enjoy the forum- there are so many different areas to see & visit and so many places to share your tips, tricks & trips.. so please join in & post often!

By the way... Our moderators here have a wide variety of RVs - from some Vintage Airstream & Silverstreak trailers, to some fifth wheels - to large Diesel Pushers...so please know this is a very diverse group of RV owners...

Again- welcome to iRV2..please visit & post often!

MM

Thanks to all for the welcome! I'll be more than happy to help out where I can.

The campgound for the Ohio get together looks very nice. I'll ask the better half if she has plans. ;-)
