45/m, married, I currently reside in Ohio. Don't plan on rving full time. Don't own a rig yet, but I THINK a class C is what I want. Would love to learn how to do repairs on the rv myself. Any help with books to read, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. Lots of good folks here.

Do look at numerous Class C coaches and even rent a couple for some short trips to see if this is what you are looking for.

As to repairs lots of info here for the asking and U-Tube in this instance can be your friend.

Good luck

from WA State.
Had a Type C MH, that lasted one year and we moved up to a 35' Type A. Some (lots) of people like them, we didn't.

Is there any advantage to buying new?

Seems like there are alot of negatives, depreciation, financing costs, not covered by lemon laws, not able to sue the guy who sold you the rig according to a Michigan lawyer on youtube. SO what are the positives?
